Book Review: One of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus

This was a quick one for me! I really love a good "Who Done It" and this one definitely didn't disappoint! It's been said that this book is "The Breakfast Club" meets "Pretty Little Liars", and that had me hooked from the get go!

We come into the story with five highschool students in afternoon detention. Now, you likely couldn't collect a group of students more glaringly different than these ones, and the situation just SCREAMS set up! Bronwyn the brain, Addy the beauty, Nate the criminal, and Cooper the jock. They've all ended up in detention for the same reason, a cellphone in their bags. Strange? Well, stranger still, the phones that each one was caught with didn't even belong to them! I smell something fishy going on! From there, things just get twistier. There's a sudden death, an investigation, and scandal after scandal!

I found this book crazy fast paced. The characters were all charming, altough some of them were a bit shallow and dramatic. I did feel a bit of a connection with each of them, having been a highschool student once upon a time.

The twist at the end, I definitely didn't see that coming at all! I pride myself in being able figure out who did the "IT" in stories like this, but I didn't have a clue with this one!

Good read for sure! 4/5*
