Wow! This one was great!! What a roller coaster!
Jules really was a character I didn’t think I liked in the beginning, and by the end, I needed her as my BFF. To begin, Jules seemed to have zero sense of self preservation. I mean, come on girl, in New York City, if it sounds too good to be true, it likely is! She takes seriously stupid risks with her own personal safety. To move into a building that your friends aren’t even allowed to visit?! That’s shadesville 101, get the heck out of there!! When people start to warn you away from this place you’re moving, why would you think the best plan of action is to ignore them?! Lord, I wanted to shake that girl! In the end though, Jules turns herself into this strong af Boss B*tch taking no nonsense from anyone!! She’s in charge, so we’d all best get out of her way!!
The detail used to describe Jules surroundings throughout the story was incredible! George the gargoyle became my favourite piece of design that’s ever existed, fictional or not! The different apartments, the cage elevator, even the view of Central Park, were all so vivid and sharp, I was blown away!
The thrill aspect here, I thought I had it pegged from the get go. I’d convinced myself that my detective skills were A+ material. Boy was I wrong!! There was layer upon layer of turns that I clearly could not navigate on my own! We’d head off one way, I’d smell a destination, and run off, only to find out we’d about face turned yet again! Such a great strategy to keep us all on our toes!!
All in all, I really loved this one. 5* for sure. I’ve not experienced a storyline quite as twisty as this one before. It was a great journey!
